GTA VI is turning Miami into Vice City, putting Wynwood, Edgewater, and the Design District in the global spotlight. Here is what living there really looks like in 2026, what condos cost and what to check before you buy or rent.
If you drove through Downtown, Wynwood or Miami Beach this week, you saw it. Rockstar Games is promoting Grand Theft Auto VI, which GameSpot reports launches November 19, with a campaign that has taken over the city. A "Welcome to Vice City" sign sits on the roof of the Kaseya Center, a branded blimp is flying over South Florida, Vice City umbrellas and beach chairs line Miami Beach, exotic cars are wrapped like the game's vehicles and ten new murals went up at Wynwood Walls.
The campaign continues into November. The Miami Heat announced "A Night in Vice City" for November 18, and Rockstar is sponsoring a free event in Little Haiti on November 22. Miami-Dade residents also get free Wynwood Walls admission through 2028.
Not everyone is cheering. Some county commissioners objected to the game portraying Miami as violent, while Mayor Daniella Levine Cava's office called the takeover a "love letter" to the city. Either way, Miami is back on screens around the world.
Vice City is fiction, but the neighborhoods that inspire its look are real, and people are searching for them right now. Here are three that feature heavily in the campaign.
Wynwood. This is Miami's street-art district, packed with galleries, breweries and restaurants. It is lively at night and on weekends, which is great if you want to walk everywhere and less ideal if you want quiet. According to an Allioo roundup of several data sources, condos in Wynwood and Midtown typically sell between $450,000 and $650,000.
Edgewater. Set between Downtown and Wynwood on Biscayne Bay, Edgewater offers towers with water views. The same roundup puts the typical Edgewater condo near $700,000. It suits buyers who want Wynwood's energy a few minutes away, with bay views and a calmer pace.
Design District. This is Miami's hub for luxury fashion, art and dining. Jean-Georges Miami Tropic Residences is rising there, with prices from $1.1 million and estimated completion in 2028, according to Haute Residence. Pre-construction has its own rules: staged deposits, long timelines and contracts worth reviewing carefully.
For many buyers coming from high-tax states, neighborhoods like these feel familiar: walkable, cultural and full of restaurants, but with water views and no state income tax in Florida. Compare your full monthly cost, including HOA dues, insurance and property taxes, against what you pay today. Renting in Edgewater or Wynwood for a year can also be a smart way to learn the city before choosing a long-term home elsewhere in South Florida.
Renting is still the most practical way to test a neighborhood. Zumper's report, covered by WLRN on October 6, puts the median two-bedroom rent in the city of Miami at $3,230, and new towers in Edgewater or near the Design District often run above that median. Before you sign, check building rules on short-term rentals, pets and parking, and visit at night and on a weekend, because Wynwood changes a lot by the hour.
Enjoy the show, but choose your home carefully. Set a full budget, compare at least two neighborhoods and, for condos, ask about the building's reserves and inspections before you buy. If Vice City made you think about Miami, turn that idea into a concrete plan.
Is Vice City Miami? Vice City is a fictional city inspired by Miami. GameSpot reports GTA VI launches November 19, 2026, and Rockstar is running a major campaign in the city.
Where are the GTA VI ads in Miami? At the Kaseya Center, Wynwood Walls, Miami Beach, on wrapped cars and on a blimp flying over South Florida.
How much does a condo cost in Wynwood or Edgewater in 2026? An Allioo roundup puts Wynwood and Midtown condos at roughly $450,000 to $650,000 and the typical Edgewater condo near $700,000.
Is Wynwood a good place to live? It is ideal if you want art, restaurants and nightlife within walking distance. If you want quiet, Edgewater or a more residential area may fit better.
